How Long Does an Ubud Bike Tour Take?

Our Ubud bike tour takes around two hours of cycling and covers approximately 10 kilometres, including stops along the way. You’ll have time to enjoy rice field views, explore village surroundings, and hear stories from your local guide.

The full outing takes longer if it includes hotel transfers, a briefing, and lunch. Your hotel location also affects how much time you should allow.

Here’s how to plan your day.

Around Two Hours for the Cycling Experience

Allow approximately two hours from the start of the ride to the finish, including breaks and sightseeing stops.
You won’t be pedalling continuously. We stop at suitable places so you can rest, take photographs, and learn about the countryside.
The timing may change slightly with your group’s pace, the weather, and how long you spend at each stop. There’s no need to rush simply to finish within an exact time.

Approximately 10 Kilometres Through the Countryside

The standard ride covers around 10 kilometres.

Rather than focusing on distance, we want you to enjoy the places you pass. Depending on the route, you can see rice fields, village homes, temples, and everyday Balinese life.

Your guide can also explain Subak, Bali’s traditional irrigation system, during the ride.

Ten kilometres may sound like a lot if you haven’t cycled recently. Remember that the experience includes stops, and we can discuss a shorter route if you prefer.

Cycling Time and Total Tour Time Are Different

The two-hour estimate applies to the cycling experience. It doesn’t include every part of your outing.

Cycling Time and Total Tour Time
Part of the day Included in the two-hour riding estimate?
Hotel pickup and drive to the starting point No
Bike preparation and briefing No
Cycling, sightseeing stops, and short breaks Yes
Lunch, if included in your package No
Return transfer to your hotel No

Send us your hotel name when booking. We’ll explain the pickup arrangements and expected schedule for your package.

Can We Choose a Shorter Ride?

Yes. We can shorten the route for guests who prefer less cycling. This can suit families with younger riders, grandparents, or anyone who wants a gentler morning.
Let us know before the trip so we can explain how the shorter ride fits with your itinerary. A reduced distance doesn’t mean you need to hurry—you can still enjoy the countryside at a comfortable pace.
If someone becomes tired during the ride, tell your guide early so they can discuss the available options.

What Happens if Someone Gets Tired?

We can stop for a break at a suitable place. Take a moment to rest, have a drink, and decide whether you feel ready to continue.

If you don’t want to cycle further, a support vehicle can meet you at a road-accessible meeting point.

Some paths cannot be reached by vehicle, so it’s important to let your guide know before you become exhausted. They’ll explain where the vehicle can meet you and help coordinate the arrangements.

You don’t have to push yourself to complete the full distance.

Is Two Hours Suitable for Children?

It can be, provided the route and bike arrangements match their ability.
Children riding independently should be able to balance, steer, brake, and follow instructions. Tell us their ages, heights, and cycling experience before booking.
Two hours includes stops, but some children may still prefer a shorter ride. We can discuss that with you when planning the day.
Parents can help by letting the guide know when their child needs a rest or feels uncomfortable.

Do We Need to Be Regular Cyclists?

No. You don’t need to cycle every week, but you should feel comfortable controlling a bike.
The route, slopes, and weather all affect how much effort the ride takes. Ask us about anything that concerns you before booking.
If you haven’t ridden for a while, a short practice ride at home can help you check your confidence.
During the tour, ride at a manageable pace and follow your guide’s instructions. Taking a break is always better than continuing when you feel too tired to control the bike comfortably.

Will Photo Stops Make the Ride Longer?

They can. A quick photograph usually fits naturally into the schedule, while longer stops may extend the experience.
Your guide helps choose suitable places to pause. Stop securely before taking out your phone rather than trying to photograph the scenery while moving.
If photography is an important part of your visit, tell us when booking. We can explain how it fits with the planned ride.
Leave a little flexibility in your day so you can enjoy the stops without watching the time.

Does Rain Affect the Duration?

Light rain may slow the pace because wet surfaces require more care when braking and turning.

Your guide will assess the conditions and explain any adjustments. Heavy rain or unsuitable conditions may require a delay or change to the route.

Bring lightweight rain protection when advised and keep your phone protected.

Can We Book Another Activity Afterwards?

Yes! There are several activities you can enjoy around Ubud, such as white water rafting and ATV tours.

Let us know when booking if you would like to combine cycling with another activity. We’ll be happy to help arrange a suitable schedule, allowing enough time between activities so you can enjoy your day without feeling too tired.

Our goal is to help you make the most of your time in Bali while keeping your experience comfortable and enjoyable.
