Cycling in Ubud During the Rainy Season: Is It Still Worth It?
If you’re planning a Cycling in Ubud experience, one of the most common questions is:
“What happens if it rains?”
The good news is that a little rain rarely affects our cycling tours. In fact, Bali’s weather—especially around Ubud—is known for changing quickly, and our local guides have years of experience reading these weather patterns.
FAMILY CYCLING IN BALI
Bali's Weather Changes Quickly
Many visitors are surprised by how fast the weather changes in Bali.
A light shower may last only 15–30 minutes before the sunshine returns. This is especially common during July to September, when Bali is still in the dry season. While occasional rain showers can happen, they usually don’t last long and are rarely disruptive.
Because our guides were born and raised in the villages where we cycle, they understand the local weather better than any forecast. They know which clouds bring a short shower and when it’s best to continue or take a short break.
“As local guides who were born and raised in these villages, we’ve spent years cycling these roads in every season. Light rain is simply part of nature in Bali and rarely affects the experience. We believe some of the most beautiful moments happen just after the rain, when the rice fields look greener, the air feels fresher, and the villages become even more peaceful. That’s why we’re always happy to share the authentic beauty of Ubud, rain or shine.”

Our Rain Policy for Cycling in Ubud
Your safety and comfort are always our priority. That’s why we’ve created a simple rain policy to ensure every guest enjoys the experience.
Our Rain Policy for Cycling in Ubud
If it’s only light rain or drizzle, we continue cycling as planned.
We provide:
- Complimentary raincoats
- Safety briefing before continuing
- Extra attention from your guide throughout the ride
Many guests actually enjoy cycling through the fresh countryside after a light rain. As you ride through Ubud, you’ll pass lush rice fields that are part of Bali’s traditional Subak irrigation system, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The cooler air, vibrant green landscapes, and peaceful village atmosphere often make the experience even more memorable.
Heavy Rain? We Simply Wait
If heavy rain occurs, we don’t rush.
Instead, we stop at a safe location, take a short break, and continue the tour once the rain has eased.
Since heavy showers outside the rainy season are usually brief, the delay is often less than an hour.
Our goal is never to rush the experience but to make sure everyone enjoys a safe and comfortable ride.
